Finding the right gift for someone is never easy.   To help you out this holiday season I decided to make up a list of my top 6 health and  fitness gift ideas for the fitness enthusiast and athlete. Everything on the list I have personally used and recommend.

Top 6 Fitness Gift Ideas:

Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells

1-Bowflex Dumbbells are top on my list. A number of my personal training clients have them and they work great. One stack of weights go from 2.5 pounds up to 52 pounds while not taking up too much room. The exact model I recommend is the Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells. I looked around for the best price and found it on Amazon. In addition,  I recommend you purchase the matching stand that goes with the dumbbells which is the Bowflex SelectTech 552 / 1090 Dumbbell Stand.  Likewise,  if you want to go all out, get the bench as well. The Bowflex SelectTech Adjustable Bench Series 3.1 is a good value. Anyone who is into resistance training will love this set up.

Waring PJE401 Juice Extractor

2- The Waring Juice Extractor is the juicer that I use everyday. I did a video called Juicing to Lower Your Blood Pressure where I explain how you can help lower your blood pressure by juicing. Any athlete or fitness enthusiast has to start juicing. The Waring PJE401 Juice Extractor is the machine that I used in the video and the one that is the best value for the money. Once you start drinking fresh vegetable juice everyday you will feel so good you will never stop. If you need some juicing recipes then check out this book Complete Book of Juicing. It has some interesting and tasty juicing drinks.

Nike Free 7.0

3- The Nike Free has been my favorite sneaker for the last few years. They are lightweight, great looking and are somewhat similar to running or walking barefoot. The whole concept of the Nike Free Run (Women’ s Free Run) shoe is to not overly support the foot, which can throw off the normal mechanics of running and walking. I wrote an article called Is Bare Foot Running Safe? It is safe and I run in Nike Free shoes all the time and my feet are stronger because of it. The Fivefinger shoes are a more extreme option for bare foot running so check them out too but I would recommend starting out with Nike.

Kettlebell SDK2

4- Kettlebells are a great way to train the whole body. I use them with my clients all the time. Kettlebell workouts engage multiple muscle groups at once so they are a good option for getting a whole body workout in a short period of time. The Cap Kettlebell SDK2 is a good product. I would not start out with more then 10 pounds. The movements are fun to do but much harder then they look. It’s always a good idea to get a video and Steve Maxwell is an expert on Kettlebell training.

Oakley M Frame Hybrid S Sport Sunglasses

5- Oakley Sport Sunglasses are great for any outdoor activity. I like to run and bike with Oakley M Frame Hybrid S Sport Sunglasses. They stay firm on your head while at the same time, are light in weight and really protect your eyes from the sun. The woman’s Oakley Dart Woman’s Lifestyle Fashion Sunglasses look great too. You can never have too many pairs of sunglasses. They are always a nice gift.

Aroma Cool-Touch Rice Cooker and Food Steamer

6- Aroma Cool-Touch Food Steamer is a great gift for anyone who is health conscience. Steaming is a healthy way to cook all your whole grains and vegetables. This is the machine that I use. I did a video called Quinoa a Good Source of Complete Protein where I talked about how to use a rice steamer to cook Quinoa and all my grains.
